Mathematics at StThomas'

Maths is all around us and at Leigh St Thomas’ Primary School, our aim is to provide all our pupils with a robust foundation in mathematical skills and concepts, while also fostering a deep understanding and enjoyment of the subject. In addition, our focus is rooted in an ambitious, coherent curriculum that nurtures a profound understanding of mathematical language. We strive to equip our pupils with the necessary fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving mastery skills to excel not only in mathematics but also in various real-life situations. We are committed to delivering the National Curriculum, with a specific focus on the mastery approach, encouraging children to become resilient, confident and independent learners. To do this we utilise White Rose Mathematics, which aligns with the national curriculum and the ‘Ready to progress’ criteria produced by the DfE. .
